Recent trends in North American universities to provide students with new learning technologies such as iPod’s have often led to rapid adoptions without taking into consideration the particular cultural and social dimensions of an academic setting. In the present study, we have investigated these issues from the users’ perspective rather than from the technology’s performance. This allowed us to better grasp the notion of mobility associated with learning in a university setting.
