Abstract

This study analyzed the dynamics of ICT integration in learning in Burundi. A survey of 331 volunteer students was carried out to determine each participant’s level and to analyze the factors influencing the pedagogical integration of ICT. A vast majority (93%) of the students owned a smartphone and 52% owned a computer, at a cost reaching US$822, including connection. Forty-eight (48%) of the students used ICT to create learning content. The absence of certain pedagogical or institutional factors and an unfavorable digital environment were obstacles to integration. Establishing of a few key conditions would accelerate the implementation of ICT integration in medical training in Burundi.
